Custom Selene 38
The next generation hull incorporates a cruisers stern, deeper keel, and larger rudder. The cruisers stern adds to the water line giving better speed and efficiency. The deeper keel adds more stability and tracking. The larger rudder gives better control, especially at low speeds. The cruisers stern has added greater storage to the inside of the lazarette which also houses the steering quadrant, and battery banks for the vessel.
One of the most brilliant design elements of the 38 is the engine room. Passage Maker magazine quotes “AN ENGINE ROOM THAT EARNS HIGH MARKS” in a recent article covering this 38/42 boat series. After passing through a full sized man door located on the starboard side of the owners shower stall, you walk into the engine room where you can stand up and service the engine. The headroom is as much as 5’9″ and is smartly gained from the space underneath the raised settee in the saloon. This is the most spacious engineroom in any yacht of this size range.
This boat is build for a cruising family in mind and has a very livable interior. The saloon incorporates a raised lower helm to starboard, full galley to port side, and raised settee. Aft is the master stateroom which has a walk around queen on center as well as a full head and stand up shower stall. Forward is a V-berth with en-suite head. Outside the Selene 38 deck plan is set up to safely get around and much thought has gone into this design as well. Walk around decks and cockpit are large and fore deck design allows for anchors to be safely deployed and retrieved and is marked by a heavy duty stainless steel Samson post.
